JKUAT ENDEAVOR: JAVA MOBILE APPLICATION DEVELOPMENT COURSE – DAY 3

The day was  3rd of June 2010, the occasion: CT3 JKUAT  Endeavor Lesson 3.
Abel Masai started the class by covering Threads. He covered the concept of creating classes, the methods found in the Thread class as well as the Runnable interface; as well as Thread pools. The class went on well, and the participants wrote a small program to implement the concepts learned. The class was abele to appreciate why Java’s multi-threaded functionality give it an edge over other languages.
Next, Omondi Edward took over and made an introduction to Databases. He covered SQL statements for creating databases, tables, as well as retrieving data from a database. He then took the class through the process of connecting to a database within Java, creating tables, inserting values into tables using SQL statements within the Java platform.
The class was given Lab 04 to go and try it out.
